My name is Ellen Jane, “Ejay” for short, and I’m so glad you’ve found your way here.
I’ve long been drawn to understanding how we adapt, how we create meaning from our experiences, and how we find our way back to balance in a world that often feels chaotic. Over time, I’ve come to realize that nearly every path I’ve followed has been an exploration of the same question: What becomes possible when we learn to pay closer attention?
My first training was in art and architecture, where I learned to see how structure, space, and relationship shape the way we move through the world. Over time, that way of seeing expanded beyond buildings and into the living systems that surround us. I became fascinated not only by patterns themselves, but by the spaces between them—the pauses that give rhythm to music, the silence that gives meaning to words, the space that allows a building to be lived in, and the quiet intervals where change often begins.
After many years in architecture, an unexpected career transition opened the door to a new path. What began as an exploration of the spaces we inhabit gradually became an exploration of the living systems that inhabit us. I found myself asking many of the same questions I had explored in architecture, only now those questions were unfolding within the body, within nature, and within the relationships that shape our lives.
That realization led me to dedicate myself to the study of bodywork, becoming a certified massage therapist while continuing to explore the intricate relationships between body, awareness, creativity, and the natural rhythms that influence our experience. That same curiosity continues to shape everything I create.
Mystical Crane is a place to explore the relationships that connect body, creativity, nature, science, philosophy, and lived experience. Rather than seeing these as separate disciplines, I see them as different ways of exploring the same living process.
My work is grounded in the belief that meaningful change begins with attention. Where we place our attention shapes our relationship with ourselves, with others, and with the living world. Whether we are learning a new skill, navigating uncertainty, creating something with our hands, or simply becoming more aware of ourselves, growth often begins by creating the conditions that allow it to unfold naturally.
Here you’ll find reflections, creative projects, practical tools, and conversations that invite a deeper relationship with yourself, with the natural world, and with the rhythms that shape our lives. Some ideas are supported by established science, while others emerge through observation, lived experience, or traditions that continue to offer wisdom across cultures and generations. Whenever possible, I strive to honor those traditions by distinguishing their original teachings from my own observations and reflections. I remain curious, open, and willing to let each perspective inform the others.
In many traditions, the crane symbolizes balance, longevity, and the quiet harmony between stillness and movement. To me, it also represents the quiet strength of patient attention. It serves as a reminder that wisdom is found not only in what we notice, but also in what we choose to make space to notice.
Mystical Crane is an invitation to slow down, explore with curiosity, and discover what begins to reveal itself when we learn to listen more deeply.
May this be a place where there is room to pause, to notice more deeply, and to discover the quiet relationships that reveal themselves in the spaces between.
